SOUTH DENVER

South Denver is a sprawling mix of residential areas and busy streets like South Broadway, lined with coffee shops, laid-back eateries, and neighborhood bars. Grand buildings like the late-19th-century University Hall sit on leafy yards at the University of Denver, also home to the multidisciplinary Newman Center for the Performing Arts. Joggers and cyclists use paths looping spacious Washington Park and its lakes.

PLATTE PARK

Locals have long recognized there’s a lot to love about Platt Park. The tree-lined blocks of South Pearl Street, its main drag, host a farmers’ market, well-attended food and music festivals, and a plethora of fabulous eateries and boutiques. Surrounding the charming commercial hub is a quiet, neighborhood of Craftsman bungalows, modern renos, and Tudors that stretch all the way to Broadway, a funky corridor where there’s always something happening. – 5280 Magazine
